/about

A small studio,
building AI the way
it should have been built the first time.

/on-the-name

Where the name comes from.

ज्ञान — dnyan
ज्ञानेश्वरी — dnyaneshwari

Dnyan (ज्ञान) is the Sanskrit word for knowledge — but knowledge of a particular kind. Not data, not information. The kind that is held by someone who understands.

We took the name from a thirteenth-century text — the Dnyaneshwari (ज्ञानेश्वरी), written around 1290 CE by Saint Dnyaneshwar. It is a commentary on the Bhagavad Gita, but more than that: it is the first time the Gita was rendered in Marathi — the language ordinary people actually spoke.

Saint Dnyaneshwar was nineteen when he wrote it. His ambition was simple and radical — take knowledge that had been locked behind Sanskrit and the temple, and put it in the hands of farmers, weavers and householders in the language of their kitchens.

Eight centuries later, that is the work we have signed up for — with a different kind of language. AI today is the new Sanskrit: powerful, opaque, expensive, mostly accessible to a priesthood of researchers. We are building tools that translate it back into the work people actually do.

a small note — we wear the lineage carefully. We do not claim it; we hope to be quietly worthy of it.

/principles

Four things we won't bend on.

i.

Honesty over hype

If a model isn't ready, we say so first. We'd rather lose the project than ship something that breaks the trust we asked for. Anxious AI is bad AI.

ii.

The expert is the author

We don't replace your domain expert — we hand them a sharper pen. Every system we build assumes a human will edit it tomorrow, not five years from now.

iii.

Auditability is a feature

Every answer comes with its sources. Every decision leaves a trace. If you can't explain it back to a regulator, we haven't shipped it.

iv.

Slow is a strategy

We work with three clients at a time, not thirty. We say no often. We send invoices that look like a love letter to deliberateness.

/team

The team

We hire slowly, on purpose. Everyone here has shipped systems into production — and has at least one story about it going sideways.
